Do’s and Don’ts When Thinking About Filing for Bankruptcy

When you are thinking about filing for bankruptcy; 

–           Do not pay back a friend or family member (or a creditor).

–           Do not close a bank account.

–           Do not put a vehicle into someone else’s name.

–           Do not put real estate into someone else’s name.

–           Do not “run up” debt on purpose.

–           Do not payoff your car (or other asset).

Please call us before you do any of the above. There are statute of limitations that go back several years for some of the above. Make sure you tell us if you’ve done any of the above when you come in for your appointment.
